BackTrack allows you to save your current location and then find your way back to it. It could be where you parked your car or maybe to help you find your campsite after a long day hiking.

With BackTrack you can save up to three separate locations and preview them in the maps application. You can then use the track functionality to guide you back to any of the locations.

The distance and heading to the selected location are shown along with your current heading and a big arrow which will point you in the correct direction when moving. Metric or Imperial units can be selected for the distance. A link to the maps application is also provided.

The accuracy of the current location is shown at all times, an iPhone 3G is essential.

** Important Information **

The application works very well if you follow these simple steps :-

1. Make sure you are using an iPhone 3G.

2. Before setting your location let the application run for a little while until the accuracy in the bottom toolbar shows a reasonable low number. You will need a clear line of sight to the sky for this.

3. The quality of guidance will be dependent on the quality of the GPS signal and the accuracy displayed.

4. The iPhone will only show the direction to the stored location when you are moving (this can be a steady walking pace). It has no way of knowing which way you are facing when you are stood still.

Works Well
Gave it a try for .99. Very easy to use and accurate.
Not quite
I thought this would work like a gps system, only that it would guide you back to where you started. Maybe that is how its SUPPOSED to work. I think it would be a great app if it worked, but so far it just sits there. When I hit the buttons to set a point it doesnt respond or do much of anything. Wait until they work out the bugs. Then this app will be amazingly useful.
Another weak attempt...
Only Car Finder is a more worthless application. Ive got to give the developer credit, at least there is a directional arrow BUT IT POINTS IN THE WRONG DIRECTION MOST OF THE TIME... I took it to Dodger Stadium tonight... good thing I looked where I parked, because the distance indicator went from over 2,000 feet at one point, to 56 feet in the next moment! Great idea, but needs much refinement. 99 more cents down the drain...
Damn
I was hoping to get a app that would take me back besides car finder. Unfortunately this was a waste of a buck. If it was accurate it would be really cool but it is usually off by a half mile. Hopefully an update will come out to make it more accurate but right now its not even usable.
Great Concept but Needs Refinement
This is a great concept and there are several apps that do the same thing. I did notice that if you dont double check the location sometimes it can be miles off even though your accuracy states a couple hundred feet. Also, I would like to see the ability to enter Latitude and Longitude for a location and the app would direct you there.
